 The BOX began as another adventurous idea by Liz in May 2021, sparked by the challenges of the Covid-19 pandemic and Stephen's passion for basketball. Stephen & Blake (our son) took on the project together, with support from Colorful Beginnings, the help of friends, family, and skilled trades. By August 24, 2021, the court lines were painted, and The BOX officially came to life. Our vision was to create a safe, uplifting space for athletes—a place where hearts, minds, and bodies could stay focused on positive goals.   Fueled by Stephen’s love for basketball and our commitment to our community, The BOX has become a welcoming haven for sports, events, and connection. 

For safety and liability, we require all visitors to have a signed waiver on file before they enter—no exceptions. 

Our facility is available for private rental seven days a week from 6 a.m. to 11 p.m. at $25/hour, making it accessible for training sessions, gatherings, and events.

Basketball players can enhance their skills with our Dr. Dish Shooting Machine, which connects to your mobile device to track stats and improve performance. Volleyball players can enjoy a premium experience with our tournament-grade net. We also ask visitors to complete a simple checklist before leaving, which includes turning off lights and fans, dry-mopping the floor, and leaving the space fresh and clean for the next guests.

 The BOX features a spacious gym with 20-foot high ceilings, providing an open and airy atmosphere. Our basketball court is just shy of full regulation size, with a 2-foot gap on the baseline to accommodate a 3-foot drop zone. This area is perfect for changing into gym shoes, storing gear, or taking a quick rest. The sideline stretches to 69 feet, which is 15 feet shorter than high school regulation and 25 feet shorter than NBA regulation. For volleyball enthusiasts, our court meets full regulation standards, though there is a slight limitation in the service zone. Regardless of the sport, The BOX offers a fantastic space to train, play, and improve! 

 Your support helps keep The BOX open and running smoothly! We accept donations through cash, check, or Venmo, making it easy to contribute in a way that works best for you. As you enter the gym, you’ll find a black cash box securely mounted to the wall for cash donations, and checks can be made payable to "The Box, LLC." For those who prefer digital options, a Venmo code is also displayed on the donation box.

Every donation goes directly toward covering essential operating expenses like insurance, electricity, propane, restroom services, and equipment such as nets and balls when funds are available.
